A very good post, Dustin, but I think there is one concept you should look into a bit. it is called dual aspect monism and it originated in ancient Greece, got a modern start with Spinoza, but has been overtaken by the quantum physics of Wolfgang Paul, Sir Arthur Eddington, John Archibald Wheeler, David Bohm, David Hiley and John Polkinghorne. I'm just completing a detailed review of all their ideas as presented by physicist Harald Atmanspacher and philosopher Dean Rickles. As you will see, this very scientific idea does something relatively unique and very relevant to your concern--it blends current science with ancient ideas and current psychology, religion and theology.
