Hello Nicholas, I would point out that there is a difference between something existing and us knowing that something exists. For example, aliens. Some believe they exist and see evidence for them (UFOs) etc., others don’t believe they exist. But, right now, wouldn’t you agree that either they exist or don’t exist independent of our knowledge of their existence? If someday we find they exist, then we will know. I see the issue of God similar, as well as the issue of inspiration. We cannot “know” it in the sense of absolute proof. There is evidence that is convincing to some, unconvincing to others. So some believe and some don’t. If God exists and is interested in us then we will know when the veil is lifted that he exists. If he doesn’t and the atheist physicalist account of reality is accurate, we still won’t know but we won’t care because there will be no one there to know. I believe the status of the Bible is similar in that either it is inspired or isn’t. I can’t know, but I can believe based on the evidence I see or simply my preferences. But not knowing does not change its status.
