Is this atheist “evangelist” serious?

Sometimes I wish those attempting to persuade others of Christianity would just go away. That may be because while I am a believer I find their attempts at “proving” God exists or rationalizing some of the tenets of the faith that strike modern minds as absurd as, well, absurd. Then I am reminded of C. S. Lewis’ statement that people come to the faith in all kinds of ways including some he particularly disliked.

That means, of course, that what strikes me as embarrassing and absurd may very well be effective to others. What is true of Christian advocacy or apologetics as it is more formally called, is equally true of atheistic advocacy or apologetics. I am referring to the “apologetics” of Medium writer @Tony Berard who is using this channel to attempt to build a community or organization of fellow atheists.

To build that community of fellow atheists, Berard is overtly and aggressively seeking to convert religious believers into atheists. As with misguided Christian apologists, the arguments and approach used by Mr. Berard will likely turn more away from his point of view than draw them toward it. So much of it is so absurd and obviously false that I sometimes wonder if he isn’t trying a bit of reverse psychology and exposing the weakness of the atheistic arguments he advances.
