Thanks Baird, I certainly agree that there are argument for the physicalist belief system including its corollary what I call exclusive evolutionism. That is simply the idea that all of life including its origin and history (or evolution) can be explained through neo-Darwinian processes. I have written quite a few posts on why I think the argument supporting the “exclusive” part of this belief fails, so I have to disagree with the comment that there are equally compelling arguments. I think looking closely at all the criticism of the neo-Darwinian story and exclusive evolution will show that it cannot be supported. But, of course, my opinion. And totally agree that this is important to explore and discuss.
