Thanks David, am I safe in assuming that what is suggested here about dogma you would defend as appropriate to uphold? The most basic, of course, is the idea that there is no reality other than physical reality. Would you agree, at least, that this idea has been somewhat undermined by consciousness, as one example? I also find it interesting that your concern is that if we jettison physicalism or scientism, we must necessarily jettison the scientific method itself, the method that protects us against "mistake-driven consequences." But, wouldn't you agree that the history of use of this method shows plenty of examples of mistake-driven consequences? I am not suggesting jettisoning the scientific method, by the way. It is crucial in our search for facts and even truth. Crucial, but not sufficient because of what lies beyond the boundaries of science.
