Thanks Don, that is a problem, isn’t it? One of my biggest problem with the way so many scientists write today is that they are doing philosophy under the guise of science. Is the MWI science? As far as I know, there are the facts about quantum physics, but all interpretations of those facts are exercises in philosophy. I find it a bit ludicrous that the likes of Hawking and DeGrasse Tyson claim philosophy is dead while philosophizing. One who takes a different approach in my mind is Carlo Rovelli, who defends philsophy and makes it clear that he is engaging in that.
Have you seen the wikipedia chart on the interpretations of quantum mechanics? It does a good job in my mind of identifying and explaining them. But, with all those very different interpretations we cannot really consider any established science, and if not that, all philosophy?
By the way — I just updated my post on the fifth dimension to make it clear that physics has not established consciousness as a fact but it is one interpretation. Let me know if you think this helps clarify.
As always, greatly appreciate the interchange. Iron sharpens….
