Thanks for responding manarch. You state:

"of a thing whose existence defies reason " referring to God. I doubt that many of the great thinkers and philosophers throughout the ages would agree that the existence of God defies reason. It's a tiresome trope to say that believers in God or "something more" are not rational or not using their rational faculties.
