Thanks Graham, I'm glad you've read some of NT Wright but I find your comment about his being an Anglican and therefore pro-Christian interesting. I can't imagine you mean that any presupposition or starting point that someone may have eliminates them saying things that are true. I read a lot of books by atheists like Dawkins, Greene, Carroll etc., and I do so in part to understand where they are coming from but also to challenge my own presuppositions. The ancient philosophers had world views and ideas about the cosmos quite different from ours, yet they have an awful lot to teach us as I'm sure you would agree. I'm not sure how knowing that Wright's Christian starting point eliminates him from saying anything worthwhile or true. Perhaps I misunderstood the point you were making.
