Thanks Noel, I very much agree with you about the mysterious nature of physical matter. I don't agree that there is no evidence that minds exist without brains. You may want to read Irreducible Mind for one thing for the vast accumulation of evidence. You are very right about the intimate connection between mind and matter but I believe it is best explained by dual aspect monism. I've written 16 posts on this if you are interested.
