Thanks Paul, actually I have defined my understanding of materialism/physicalism many times in what I have written. I have usually expressed it as the view of closed causality, no external causes allowed which obviously eliminates anything we might call transcendent, supernatural, or as I prefer "Something More." As I continue to hold to a view of a Creator and Sustainer, the materialist belief is contrary to that. My belief in God goes far beyond my rational reasons for believing that materialism (physicalism) is a failed belief, but I do believe that there are good reasons to reject materialism.

My comments about your take on Davies, Goff and the like leads me to assume you hold a fairly strong materialist position, but, that may be putting words in your mouth so I'd be interested in your definition and where you stand on that.
