Thanks Quadrivium, interesting suggestion re fear. The physicalists or scientism adherents consider the naive view of the afterlife of believers to be caused by that fear, but I doubt think much about how fear may be motivating their belief system. It seems fear is a motivators for all of us in what we choose to believe.
