Thanks Rob, I'm not quite sure I understand. Are you saying that the current science documents would not change because they represent the final answer to the questions posed by science? I doubt you meant that as the history of science has been one of constant change and that certainly is going on today. As for the religious texts, yes, I believe that despite being Spirit inspired the writers of the ancient biblical texts reflected their understanding of the time of questions of science and history. My view of inspiration and revlation does not require them to be scientifically or even historically accurate. I think Francis Bacon was reflecting that view as well. Literalism in the biblical text is a relatively new and mostly North American phenomenon.
