Thanks W, I tried to follow your link but it was broken. I'm interested in your thought that finality is not implied by physicalism. It certainly is as explained by Brian Greene for example in Until the End of Time. All there is doomed under the second law of thermodynamics. W. James did add some very interesting thoughts along these lines. Have you read his lecture on the possibility of immortality? It is based, not on physicalism however, but on his concept of universal consciousness or a "mother-sea."
