Thanks Wayfarer, I have come to appreciate the ideas of Buddhism and the Dao much more as I've looked into it. But I do not believe the self is annihilated in death. As one simple example Jesus said to his death mate on the cross "today you will be with me in Paradise." What did he mean by "you," It certainly suggests the identity of the person he was addressing.
