The Resurrection, Divinity & Salvation — a Discussion with Prudence Louise

Prudence Louise has responded to my thoughts about the resurrection and Jesus’ divinity with thoughtful, respectful and very important questions. I have such respect for her deep thinking and very logical mind that I feel very hesitant to try to respond and defend my position. There are Christian apologists far more capable and knowledgeable than I to deal with such major questions. It is far more for my benefit that I am willing to attempt a response to these questions. To me writing is thinking and I write this in order to better understand my thinking on them.

I will address my thoughts to Prudence directly, understanding that others may be listening in and hopefully enjoying the discussion.

Prudence, once again thank you very much for your thoughtful response and your challenging questions. As we have found before, we agree on far more than what we disagree on, but the issues we may not agree on are important and, in my view, are significant for Christian faith.

Does the evidence establish proof?

The claim I made with which you disagree is that while Jesus made many statements that indicate he claimed to be divine, those were not understood by his followers until after his resurrection. It was then that the pieces…
